Peter Muthalika


Arthur Peter Mutharika  born 18 July 1940 is a Malawian politician, educator and lawyer who has been President of Malawi since 31 May 2014. Mutharika has worked globally in the field of international justice. He is an expert on international economic law, international law and comparative constitutional law. He informally served as an adviser to his older brother, President Bingu wa Mutharika, on issues of foreign and domestic policy from the onset of his election campaign until the President's death on 5 April 2012.

He has also held positions as Minister of Justice and later as Minister for Education, Science and Technology. Mutharika also served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2011 to 2012. He was charged to help bridge relations between Malawi and the United Kingdom due to the deterioration of public diplomacy between the two nations after the Cochrane-Dyet controversy. Standing as the candidate of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Peter Mutharika was elected as President of Malawi in the 2014 election.

Everton Chimulirenji


Hon. Everton Chimulirenji, 56, studied Business Management and worked at the then Ministry of Works. Known to be a man of initiative, he ventured into entrepreneurship where he proceeded to establish own construction company.Chimulirenji is no stranger to DPP and Malawi's politics since 2005 when DPP was formed. His political experience and association with the DPP began at the grassroots during the leadership of late President Bingu wa Mutharika.
With time, he rose to the position of the party,s District Governor for Ntcheu and was later elected Deputy National Organizing Secretary for the party.
He has since served two consecutive terms as Member of Parliament for Ntcheu North East. He was first elected to Parliament in 2009 when DPP won with unassailable majority. He was re-elected as MP in 2014.
Currently he is serving as the Minister of Civic Education, Culture and Community Development. Before this portfolio, he was Deputy Minister of Defence.
He is also DPP's National Campaign Director, a position he was elected to at the party's National Convention last year.
